No matter what your idea of nightlife may be, Boston has something suited just for you. Clubs, sports bars, performing arts, dining… you name it, and we’ve got it.

Late-night entertainment lives on in numerous forms around town. Explore the Back Bay, Faneuil Hall, and Downtown areas and find martini bars, world-class DJs, elegant bistros, and romantic hideaways. Definitely try Bar 10 at 10 Huntington Ave. They’ve been voted the Best Bar in Boston by ‘Boston Magazine,’ and mix signature martinis with lighter Mediterranean foods.

I know, I know… you’re in Boston, home of successful sports teams like the Red Sox, Celtics, and the increasingly popular Bruins. So of course, you want to try to catch a game. If you don’t luck out and get tickets to the live event, don’t fret. Sports bars are everywhere, especially close to Fenway Park and the TD Garden. If you’re near Fenway, try local favorites like Game On or Bleacher Bar, located under the bleachers in Fenway Park. The bar has a view right onto the field!

If bars aren’t your favorite place to go, we still have you covered. The city is buzzing with live entertainment that is sure to suit your needs. The Theatre District near the Boston Common is home to multiple theatres, featuring comedians, off-Broadway shows, ballet and other dance performances, music, and more. Major venue TD Garden often hosts major performers like U2, The Who, and KISS, while the newly reopened House of Blues hosts smaller mainstream acts such as Regina Specktor and Paramore. Local and underground bands can often be found playing the clubs in the Allston Village area of Boston.

Does all of this sound a bit too big for your wallet? Don’t fret- our next installment is all about free and cheap things to do in Boston. So stay tuned!

Concierge Pick of the Week

With so many of the large record store chains forced out of business (including Tower Records and Virgin to name just two), and the outlook for the recording industry continuing to look murky, it is all the more amazing that one of Boston’s most beloved local music shops continues to thrive. Newbury Comics, already conveniently located throughout Massachusetts and in select New England towns, has recently opened two “mega stores,” including one in Boston’s historic Faneuil Hall.

The new openings are the latest landmark events for this “underground music” store whose original location resides on the trendy and hip Newbury Street (hence its name). Since it’s inception in 1979, Newbury Comics has become THE place that locals and tourists alike will frequent to discover esoteric CD or vinyl recordings, comic books, DVDs or random assortments of pop culture goodies (from Bruce Lee t-shirts to collectable vinyl toys). Occasionally the store also branches out and plays host to in-store music performances or autograph signings. Previous appearances have included Flavor Flav and New Kids on the Block.

But, perhaps most instrumental in helping the store to maintain its popularity are those well known “wicked cheap” prices (Newbury Comics has always boasted a huge selection of new CDs priced at just $9.99). If you have kids expecting a present when you return from a trip to Boston, there are also plenty of reasonably priced Boston-themed knick knacks and other regional paraphernalia.

While over-indulgence is a common side-effect of a visit here, you won’t feel too guilty about a visit to Newbury Comics…after all you will be supporting a homegrown business and a source of local pride for all Bostonians.
